SNF PPS Proposed Rule: LeadingAge Developing Comments

Regulation | May 29, 2018 | by Nicole Fallon

LeadingAge is extending the deadline by which members can send their comments -- both positive and negative -- on the proposed FY2019 SNF PPS rule for inclusion in the LeadingAge comment letter to Wednesday, June 13.

In addition to payment updates, changes to the SNF Value-based Payment program and SNF Quality Reporting program, and an opportunity to influence what is excluded from consolidated billing in the future, the proposed rule also includes a proposal for a comprehensive change to how SNFs are paid called the patient drive payment model(PDPM). The PDPM is proposed to replace the current RUGs-IV payment model beginning October 1, 2019. A summary of the LeadingAge analysis of the proposed rule can be found in this Word document or on our website.  Members can submit comments to Nicole Fallon, vice president of Health Policy & Integrated Services for inclusion in the LeadingAge comment letter to CMS. Members are also encouraged to submit their comments directly to CMS no later than 5 p.m. Eastern Time on June 26, 2018. Please include the file code CMS-1696-P  in your comment submissions.
