LeadingAge is a community of nonprofit aging services providers and other mission-driven organizations serving older adults.
The Trusted Voice For Aging.
An America Freed From Ageism.
We take risks to overcome fear and obstacles. We have the freedom to be creative and to break new ground. We do what is right and take action with a plan.
We believe that we are stronger together and that community is built when diverse thought leads to common action. We value the power of relationships.
We serve as a community partner and connector to solve problems and create new opportunities to better serve an aging America.
We are responsible guardians for our field. We are committed to upholding members’ work and resources. We hold ourselves accountable for our mission, vision, and values.
LeadingAge recognizes the intersectionality of ageism, racism, and other forms of discrimination. We are committed to being a just, inclusive, antiracist, and equitable community that values and honors the unique qualities, wisdom, and lived experience of all people.
We are steadfast in our commitment and will invest in opportunities to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community, where all are able to meaningfully contribute and thrive.

Inspired by the White House Conference on Aging, held for the first time in January 1961, the providers also wanted to advocate for the revolutionary policy changes—including Medicare, Medicaid, and the Older Americans Act—they expected the White House Conference to set in motion. They hoped to change forever how the country viewed aging and how it provided services and supports to older adults.
Six decades later, our small association has grown into LeadingAge, a 5,000-member organization of nonprofit providers who are proud to follow in the footsteps of our founders. Like those founders, we remain committed to helping our members live out their shared mission of compassionate service to older adults. We continue advocating for universal access to high-quality programs and services for older adults. And we are steadfast in our goal to be the trusted voice for aging in America.
