HUD Commissioner Montgomery at 2018 Annual Meeting & Expo

LeadingAge is excited to announce that U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Assistant Secretary for Housing - Federal Housing Commissioner Brian Montgomery will speak at our 2018 Annual Meeting & Expo.

Commissioner Montgomery oversees HUD”s Office of Housing, which includes the Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance, Section 202 Housing for the Elderly, Section 811 Housing for Persons with Disabilities, Rental Assistance Demonstration, Housing Counseling, and Manufactured Housing programs. The Office of Housing is also responsible for operating the Federal Housing Administration, which provides more than $1.3 trillion in mortgage insurance for single family, multifamily, and healthcare facilities. The Office of Housing is the largest office within HUD.

Prior to his confirmation by the U.S. Senate in June 2018 for his current position, Commissioner Montgomery worked in the White House under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005, when he began his initial tour of duty at HUD, as Assistant Secretary for Housing – Federal Housing Commissioner from 2005 – 2009. Commissioner Montgomery also served as Acting Secretary of HUD during the last six months of the George W. Bush administration.

Commissioner Montgomery will join LeadingAge’s 2018 Annual Meeting & Expo for our Housing Policy Forum on October 29, from 8am – 9:30am.

Additionally, HUD has confirmed that Deputy Assistant Secretary Lamar Seats will be part of the HUD management update session on Tuesday, October 30, from 8 - 9:30 am.   Tom Davis, the Director of the Office of Recapitalization, will also be part of the Preservation of Post-1990 Section 202 Properties (also known as the RAD for PRAC) session on Wednesday, October 31, from 8 - 9:30 am.
