LeadingAge Action Plan for the Biden-Harris Administration

Yesterday LeadingAge and VNAA sent a letter to the Biden-Harris transition team outlining our recommendations for protecting the health and safety of older adults in the immediate future—and strengthening our systems in the longer term. Our action plan includes three overarching goals:

  • Fight COVID and its devastating impact on older adults. Fortify aging services to keep older adults—and everyone—healthy and safe.
  • Ensure older adults get the health and long-term care they need: preserve the ACA, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Ensure older adults have access to affordable housing connected to services.

These recommendations deliver a clear message to the incoming President and Americans across the country that we need to prioritize the health and safety of older adults to make our country a safer and better place to grow old. LeadingAge is ready to advocate for all our members across the continuum of care as we work with the Biden-Harris team to tackle key aging services issues head on. This report will help stakeholders understand states’ use of Housing Credits, by far the largest annual federal expenditure for new affordable housing, for older adults with low incomes.
