A Message From Our Board Chair

LeadingAge Board Chair, Carol Silver Elliott, offers this message to members about love and loss.

Last week, many of us lost a friend and all of us lost a colleague. Susan Love, who was the CEO of Lions Gate in Voorhees, New Jersey, lost her battle with COVID. In July, Susan wrote an article for the Jewish Community Voice, a publication of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey...Her “love” letter to all is filled with recognition of the courage, kindness, creativity, and generosity of so many. Those words also sum up the person that Susan was, the embodiment of all of those qualities and a person committed to the wellbeing of older adults.

#CareIsLove: Spread the Love Today and All Weekend

Today through Sunday, February 14, LeadingAge is celebrating the bonds of love that grow throughout aging services. Starting tomorrow, LeadingAge will transform our social accounts into a #CareIsLove celebration. To make it easy to participate, we’re providing customizable social graphics including profile banners and photoframe cards, sample social posts, and op-ed, press advisory and pitch call templates for members. Print out our Valentine’s Day template cards to have residents and staff color and write meaningful messages to each other. Use the materials on this page to join us in spreading the love this Valentine’s Day.

Contact Your Senators For Enhanced Relief

The U.S. House and Senate are working on the next COVID-19 relief package, and the Senate has the opportunity to add some key pieces that aging services providers need that are missing from the House bills. Adding these key provisions to the Senate version of the COVID-19 relief bill will add funding for provider relief, affordable housing programs and services, Wi-Fi access to combat loneliness and isolation, and needed funding for rescue and recovery from the pandemic. Take action today.

FMLA and Paid-Leave Survey
Help us understand your experience with the paid FMLA provisions enacted into law by the Families First legislation and the expanded unemployment benefits from the CARES Act, as Washington considers extending these or similar provisions. This information will provide us with helpful data as we evaluate these proposals. Please complete a short survey (very short if none of your employees took leave!). Questions? Contact Marsha Greenfield.

Take our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Survey Now!

LeadingAge is embarking on a major initiative, called for in our newly adopted strategic plan, to help members achieve greater diversity in their organizations. The 5-minute survey is intended to learn what people are doing now and also what they have plans to do in the future. We will use the survey results to develop resources and support to help LeadingAge members who are striving to make their organizations more inclusive. Thanks for taking the time to complete the survey. The deadline has been extended to Friday, February 12. If you have questions, please contact Natasha Bryant.
