LeadingAge Need to Know, April 27, 2021

We are sharing the very latest with members with weekday morning email updates and live online updates three days a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Visit the main coronavirus page anytime.

Following are the latest news and resources.

Mother’s Day in the Post-vaccine Environment?

As Mother’s Day approaches, LeadingAge would like to hear about your community’s plans for visitation. What do you expect and how will you navigate this day of happiness and family reunions. Send your ideas to Gene Mitchell or call 202-508-9424. And watch this email for social and PR materials to help you elevate your organization’s celebration.

This Week’s Coronavirus Policy Updates

On tomorrow’s update, Vicki Loucks of Redstone Presbyterian Seniorcare will talk about her experiences with Temporary Nurse Aides, and on Thursday Dr. Kara Jacobs-Slifka will talk about the new nursing home guidance we are expecting early next week. Register to join us.

Summer Enrichment Program Mentors Needed

LeadingAge is recruiting mentors for the Summer Enrichment Program (SEP, an internship in the field of aging designed to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion). We would like to pair interns with a mentor who brings diversity to the field of aging. The mentor can be from any LeadingAge organization across the country. The SEP starts in June with approximately 30 interns. This will be an incredible opportunity to mentor a future leader and to share your passion for the field of aging. If you are willing to be a mentor, please email Christy Kramer.

Virtual 2021 Collaborative Care & Health IT Innovations Summit

In June, LeadingAge hosts the premier conference for information technology leaders in long-term and post-acute care settings. The Summit will convene industry experts who will share lessons from the pandemic, explore what’s on the horizon for technology and collaborative care, discuss the next generation of alternative payment models, and much, much more. Joe Coughlin (MIT AgeLab), Dr. Mark McClennan (Duke University), Chris Ritter (CMS), and Peter Kress (Acts) are among confirmed keynotes. Learn more and register today.

Webinar For Hospice and Home Health Members

Don’t forget about Thursday’s webinar for our hospice and home health members. It will be a chance to highlight opportunities and connect members who have joined us through their previous affiliation with VNAA. Join LeadingAge CEO Katie Smith Sloan, LeadingAge staff, and your colleagues this Thursday, April 29 at 1 p.m. ET. Register to attend here.
