LeadingAge Need to Know, June 8, 2021

We are sharing the very latest with members with weekday morning email updates and live online updates on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Following are the latest news and resources.

TODAY: Collaborative Care & Health IT Innovations Summit

Today, LeadingAge CAST kicks off a three-day event that gathers payers, providers, tech firms, policymakers and researchers to explore how innovations are improving care—and reducing costs—across the continuum. On today’s agenda is a special keynote from Joe Coughlin, founder and director of MIT’s AgeLab, plus panels focused on preventing and detecting infection outbreaks, coordinating care during crises, and the role of HIEs during emergencies. The best part? This year’s Summit is free for providers to attend. Register now.

Strengthening the Direct Care Workforce

Last week, LeadingAge’s Senior Vice President of Research, Robyn Stone, joined Mathematica’s Center for Studying Disability Policy and other panelists for a webinar on strengthening the direct care workforce post-COVID. They highlighted state and local initiatives that scaled up evidence-based recruitment, retention, training, and career advancement strategies, and discussed adaptations made in response to COVID-19. Watch the webinar recording and check-out this article from McKnight’s Long-Term Care News about the webinar.

Vaccine Education and Communications

LeadingAge continues to help members educate staff and older adults about COVID vaccinations. Through “Drive for 75” updates during Online Policy Updates and online information and resources, we’re gathering ideas and options for members across aging services. Looking for funding for some of your vaccine communication? One way might be through FEMA’s Public Assistance Program. The agency is funding some activities to increase public confidence in and uptake of COVID-19 vaccines.
