We are sharing the very latest with members with weekday morning email updates on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and live online updates on Monday and Wednesday.

Following are the latest news and resources.

Important Safety Updates for LeadingAge Annual Meeting + EXPO
After a uniquely difficult time for our field, we are ready to welcome our community of aging services leaders back to LeadingAge Annual Meeting + EXPO—and we want to do that as safely as possible. In order to best protect our attendees, exhibitors, and event staff, all participants will be required to present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, through a HIPPA-compliant online process. We will be making accommodations for those with religious and medical exemptions. If you have already registered for your conference badge, you will be sent an email with specific instructions in the next two weeks on how to upload your vaccine verification. For more information and the latest updates, please visit our dedicated webpage. We appreciate your continued support and assistance in helping us create a safe, comfortable environment for all. If you have questions, please reach out at sales@leadingage.org. We can’t wait to see you!

This Week’s Online Coronavirus Policy Updates
Join us today and Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. ET for our online policy updates. Today, David Grabowski, Professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School and national commentator and expert on nursing home policy, will join us to talk about the vaccine mandate plans announced by CMS on August 18 and other hot policy and operational topics. On Wednesday, Christy Zeitz from LeadingAge member Fellowship Square communities will share how her staff is working to bolster morale amid trying times. Register now to join us.

Real Opportunity for Historic Federal Investment in Aging Services
Congress is crafting the FY22 budget bill in a process called reconciliation. Under consideration are much-needed major investments for home and community-based services (HCBS) and affordable housing for older adults. We must raise our voices to ensure these allocations are included in the final bill. Please do two things this week: 1) speak out publicly, using the tools and templates LeadingAge created 2) ask others to raise their voices—share this Action Alert. Members of Congress are in their home districts this week. Please let them hear your voice!

Global Ageing Network Virtual Summit
The global pandemic has been the great disruptor of our time, playing havoc with nearly every aspect of the care we provide. Now is the time for us to gather virtually with our peers across the globe to support and learn from one another. Join us for the Global Ageing Network Virtual Summit September 7-8 to be connected to thought leaders, providers, and those working in the aged care sector for a two-day interactive, virtual experience. Highlights include:

  • Innovation in Aged Care Keynote: Joseph Coughlin (MIT AgeLab) will explore the role of innovation in aged care and how we can rethink what we, as providers and business firms, can offer to older consumers moving forward.
  • Addressing Workforce Challenges in a Post-Pandemic Era: Providers from three different regions will discuss how to support ageing services workers. Plus, we’ll explore ways the international community can make the case for creating career pathways, implementing living wage programs, enhancing working conditions, and fostering social change that will help make careers in caregiving an attractive option for people entering the workforce.
  • Integrating the Generations: Building intergenerational connectedness has long been a priority for ageing services providers. In this session, we’ll hear from providers about programs they operate that are breaking down barriers, reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness, and engaging people of all ages.
