Update on National Media Efforts
LeadingAge’s national rapid-response media strategy continues. We’ve shifted to a more proactive stance, calling out the failures of federal response so far and calling for comprehensive support across the continuum of care. Last night, we issued media statement in response to the Administration’s announcements and afternoon press event:

After months of pleading for help with access to testing and personal protective equipment (PPE), nursing homes and other aging services providers were desperately awaiting word from the White House today that their voices had been heard—and that help would be on the way. Instead, we heard that “we have prevailed” on testing, but wishing does not make it so. Too many nursing homes still don’t have access to any kind of testing.

StoryCorps Connect Toolkits
Last month, we announced our partnership with StoryCorps to share a new way for you to engage your residents and clients. StoryCorps Connect encourages older people to share their life stories through intergenerational discussions. Using an online platform, families and friends can record an interview with a loved one remotely with video conference technology.

We worked with the StoryCorps team to develop toolkits specially for aging services providers. These materials will introduce you to StoryCorps and explain how your organization can use the new StoryCorps Connect platform to engage with your residents, clients, and community.
