Help Us Send Love and Thanks to Care Workers TODAY
Join us today, Care Worker Appreciation Day, to show care workers just how much we love them, and ensure that our leaders in Congress see our support as they decide whether or not to fund care worker relief in the next legislation package. Today, we’ll flood social media with #Hearts4CareWorkers. Here’s how to participate:

  • Take a video or a photo to send love and thanks (write your message on a paper heart or use "heart hands"!) and post on social media
  • Post infocard with a heart on social media
  • Post this sample post and link:
  • Thank you to all the care workers who have supported older adults during the #COVID19 pandemic. Congress MUST act now to protect these brave frontline workers. #Hearts4CareWorkers https://mobilize4change.org/ahLGb2m
  • Like, retweet/repost LeadingAge posts on social media @leadingage

Assisted Living Data Collection Portal: Delayed
Relief funds for private-pay assisted living providers are under consideration, and HHS has requested our assistance in gathering information on licensed providers, including assisted living, memory care, and life plan communities/CCRCs. The launch of the data collection portal has been delayed, and HHS has extended the deadline for the senior living associations to provide this data to the agency. Watch this email for an update tomorrow morning.

Media Event Calling for Congressional Leadership
Yesterday we held a national-local media event as part of our Act For Older Adults campaign. We released a new snapshot analysis of the HEALS Act, and called for Congress to protect millions of older adults from the worst pandemic in a century. State association and members from some of the hardest hit states—including Arizona, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, and New Jersey—joined the press conference to discuss the challenges in their states. Early media coverage included:

Materials are available, including the HEALS Act Analysis Snapshot, a press release, Katie's remarks, and the telepresser recording. As always, feel free to make use of these to cull messages for your local outreach as we push as hard as possible to get legislation to older adults and aging services providers.

Advocating for Clarity on Nursing Home Testing
LeadingAge is working hard to help clarify details around the HHS announcement of a new testing initiative for nursing homes. We sent a letter to Admiral Giroir yesterday, outlining our questions, which we hope to discuss at a meeting.
