Long-term care providers have been on the front lines of battling the pandemic. These providers have experienced crippling workforce and staffing challenges in taking care of our nation’s seniors. Unfortunately, these workforce and staffing issues have been exacerbated and exploited by the actions of temporary staffing agencies. The temporary staffing agencies have raised rates to very high levels, yet providers are forced to use these arrangements because they need to staff their communities at adequate levels to care for their residents. To address this problem LeadingAge sent a letter to the Chairwoman of the Federal Trade Commission urging her to take action. States are also engaging their legislatures to pass motions that can help alleviate this problem. Here’s a summary of what states have introduced this year.
