2024 Leadership Academy Alumni Retreat
Drawing on the core principles of the Leadership Academy curriculum, this unique leadership retreat emphasizes a lifelong learning approach to leadership development with a focus on personal and professional renewal—reinforcing and centering our collective commitment to aging services.

About
This three-day learning experience is designed to give Academy alums a deeper understanding of reflective practice, a higher degree of self-knowledge about their own thought processes, and a renewed openness to learn from others and the world around them.
It provides the space to pause and refocus—gaining new awareness from the leadership lessons and milestones that have emerged in recent years and exploring ways to leverage those insights to move forward with greater clarity and purpose.

Self-Exploration
Revisit the notions of Sabbath and the importance of reflection and introspection in our daily leadership practice.

Member Site Visits
Draw on the diverse knowledge and innovative approaches of provider member communities in the DC area.

Relationship Building
Foster connections across Academy cohorts while sharing ideas and advice that will inspire and energize you for the work ahead.

Shared Learning
Gain exposure to new ways of thinking about issues facing LeadingAge members amid ongoing uncertainty.
Open to Provider Members Only
The program is open to alumni of the Larry Minnix Leadership Academy (national program) who are currently affiliated with LeadingAge provider members.
- Space is limited to 50 participants.
- A non-refundable fee of $1,500 per person is required to participate (includes registration to the Leadership Summit).
- Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis; registration closes on March 15, 2024.
Need-based discounts/scholarships to provider members with a demonstrated financial need or hardship situation. To be considered for financial assistance for this program, please submit a request using our online form by Feb. 29. LeadingAge will review requests and notify recipients ahead of the start of the program.

The retreat will be held at the LeadingAge office in Washington, D.C., immediately following the 2024 Leadership Summit*.

Seabury Friendship Terrace
Friendship Terrace was developed by Episcopal Church Home, Friendship Inc., as one of the Services of Seabury Resources for Aging. Friendship Terrace is owned and operated by Seabury Resources for Aging, a nonprofit organization founded in 1924 with the mission to provide personalized, affordable services and housing options to help seniors in the greater Washington, D.C. area live with independence and dignity.
Edenbridge PACE
Edenbridge PACE at Skyland Town Center, the first PACE program in Washington DC, provides comprehensive, integrated health care to frail older adults residing in Wards 7 and 8. Our PACE program is increasing community services and employment, supporting the Skyland Town Center’s goal of revitalizing the area east of the Anacostia River.
Iona Senior Services
Iona is a leading aging services nonprofit in Washington, DC. Care has been the heart of our work since the day we first opened our doors over 45 years ago. With two adult day health centers and a variety of virtual and in-person programs, Iona provides unparalleled care and support for older adults and caregivers in the Washington, DC area and beyond.

The team responsible for the programmatic design and implementation of the Leadership Academy brings together a unique set of complimentary talents to the program’s ongoing curriculum development.
Judy Brown, Ph.D.
Educator in Private Practice, West River, MD
Judy Brown is a leadership educator, author, poet, speaker and coach. She has developed and facilitated countless leadership initiatives for organizations ranging from the federal government and Ford to the Urban Library Council. Her work in organizations revolves around themes of leadership, change, learning, dialogue and creativity. She has served as facilitator for the LeadingAge Leadership Academy since its inception.
Wendy Green, M.A.
Vice President, Leadership Engagement and Development, LeadingAge, Washington, DC
As vice president of leadership engagement and development, Wendy leads a variety of leadership initiatives and learning opportunities for executive-level peer groups, including the design, implementation, and facilitation of the Leadership Academy. Before LeadingAge, Wendy worked in DC-based associations and think tanks to strengthen capacities of current and emerging leaders. She uses her expertise to create engaging education opportunities for leaders at every level.
BreAna Moss, M.A.
Manager, Education & Leadership Programs, LeadingAge, Washington, DC
BreAna draws on her Master’s in Management of Aging Services to contribute to all aspects of the content development of conference-based programming and online learning opportunities. In her role, she is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization’s leadership programs and related initiatives, including the coordination of all programmatic aspects of LeadingAge’s flagship leadership program, the Leadership Academy.
Jaia Davis
Education Programs & Services Coordinator, LeadingAge, Washington, DC
As the Education Programs and Services Coordinator, Jaia assists with the logistical and operational aspects of LeadingAge’s Leadership Academy program, as well as other leadership programming and engagement opportunities for c-suite/executive-level peer groups; including the day-to-day coordination of program data and related support systems/infrastructure. Jaia also supports various educational offerings including conference education, online learning, and shared learning events.
