Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Ranking Member Bernie Sanders (I-VT) released a report on June 25 detailing the impacts of H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, on health care providers.
The report draws on the responses of more than 750 health care providers across 47 states and the District of Columbia, including LeadingAge member providers and LeadingAge. Specifically, the report notes that H.R. 1 would increase the number of uninsured Americans in every state; result in more paperwork and care delays; force providers to cut clinical services, lay off staff, and potentially close; and ultimately lead to more patients getting sick and dying.
LeadingAge shared Ranking Member Sanders‘ original request for information that served as the basis for this report and submitted a letter directly to the Committee.
The report included a quote from LeadingAge’s letter, which provided stories from various types of aging services providers, that noted “If Medicaid payment for these services were reduced or eliminated, many of these providers would have to close and they would not only close for the Medicaid recipients – they would close for all beneficiaries.”
The full report is available here, and the state-by-state analysis of how uninsured rates will increase is available here.
