In a February 9 meeting coordinated by LeadingAge, a majority of awardees from the most recent round of funding for new Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly homes shared their experiences with HUD headquarters multifamily housing staff. The discussion ranged from positives to pain points, with undergirding themes of tremendous support for the Section 202 program and the strong partnership that exists between nonprofit Section 202 developers and HUD’s team. LeadingAge has been convening these Section 202 awardees since early 2022 with the goal of creating a feedback loop to HUD to continually improve Section 202, HUD’s flagship senior housing program.
