Bill Threatens 63k Older Adults Rural Rent Aid
The House-passed Limit, Save, and Grow Act, which would revert program funding to FY22 levels in FY24, would cut tens of thousands of older adults from their rural housing assistance, according to an April 26 assessment from the USDA.
“The proposal would cause as many as 63,000 current recipients of USDA-funded rental assistance in rural communities to lose their unit contract, putting these families at increased risk of homelessness and undermining the supply of affordable housing,” USDA says. More than 51% of USDA Rural Housing Service multifamily homes are occupied by older adults.
