The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has posted new resources for conducting the Brief Interview for Mental Status (BIMS) assessment.

• BIMS and BIMS Summary Score: Stopping and Coding an Incomplete Interview for Home Health and Skilled Nursing Providers Explainer Video: The new three-minute, animated video was developed to assist providers in accurately determining when the BIMS should be stopped, and how to code the remaining items in this situation.
• Tutorial Video: The 20-minute video is designed to assist nursing home, home health, and other long-term care providers in accurate coding using live action patient/resident scenario.
