Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) began notifying skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and hospices that were determined to be out of compliance with their respective Quality Reporting Program (QRP) requirements for CY22 on July 20. Noncompliant SNFs will have their fiscal year 2024 (FY24) Medicare FFS Annual Payment Update (APU) reduced by 2% and hospices will incur a 4% reduction for FY24.
Providers are deemed non-compliant when they do not adequately report quality data via their respective assessments. Noncompliance notices are being provided by Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs). However, providers can also check their folders in QIES and IQIES. Hospices’ non-compliance letters can be found in their CASPER folders in QIES.
SNFs will find notices in their facilities’ “My Reports” folders in iQIES. If there is no noncompliance notice in these folders or received from the MAC, the provider is considered compliant. Facilities that receive a letter of noncompliance may submit a request for reconsideration to CMS via email no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on August 18, 2023.
Providers wishing to request reconsideration of the QRP non-compliance should review the instructions in their notice of non-compliance and on the appropriate QRP webpage: SNF Quality Reporting Reconsideration and Exception & Extension Hospice Quality Reporting Reconsideration Requests
