The Campaign for Housing and Community Development Funding (CHCDF) has sent a fact sheet, “Impacts of Inconsistent Funding on Affordable Housing Programs,” to all congressional offices. The fact sheet urges Congress to pass fiscal year appropriations bills for the U.S. departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Agriculture as soon as possible, and to avoid a government shutdown.
Drawing from experiences during the 2018-2019 shutdown, the fact sheet describes the potential harmful impacts of a shutdown or a long-term continuing resolution on federal affordable housing and community development programs. HUD reportedly has the resources necessary to, in most cases, continue project rental assistance funding through the end of 2024.
