Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) of the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Medicare program, put out a request for information on increasing access to health care in rural and underserved communities. LeadingAge submitted a response to this RFI highlighting challenges and opportunities across our continuum of services. Our response talked about payment, the workforce, innovation, technology, and areas that the Committee should consider that are outside of their jurisdiction but related to the questions being asked in the RFI. We emphasized changes in payment policy, regulatory oversight, and workforce that need to be made in order to sustain and grow aging services. As the Committee works through what they want to do with the feedback they receive in the RFI, we stay engaged.
