The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a January 29 memo in response to questions about required submissions of risk adjustment data in both the Encounter Data System (EDS) and the Risk Adjustment Processing System (RAPS). The memo outlines technical instructions for submission of risk adjustment data to EDS and CMS believes this will assist all PACE organizations to begin submitting these data to EDS rather than RAPS.

PACE organizations are encouraged to begin following instructions from the memo as soon as possible, though are assured that RAPS will remain for correction of prior years data. When PACE organizations transition processes to submission of all diagnosis data to EDS, RAPS submission will no longer be necessary.
