The U.S. Department of Justice Department’s Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Federal Trade Commission on March 5 jointly announced a Request for Information concerning consolidation in the healthcare market, and the increasing role of private-equity and other corporations. The Request for Information (RFI) seeks public comment regarding transactions involving health care providers, including aging services and providers of home- and community-based services for people with disabilities, conducted by private equity funds and others, and their effects on participants in the health care market including patients, communities, payers, employers, providers, and other health care workers and businesses. LeadingAge staff will review the RFI and evaluate opportunities to provide input to the agencies.
