The John A. Hartford Foundation this month announced funding to support Phase II of the Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition. The three-year, $1.6 million grant builds on work developed with the $1 million, Phase 1 award made in June 2022 to LeadingAge as the coalition convener focused on improving nursing home care in America by furthering recommendations in the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s (NASEM) report The National Imperative to Improve Nursing Home Quality: Honoring Our Commitment to Residents, Families, and Staff.
The new three-year award begins on July 1st, 2024, and goes through June 30th, 2027; during that period, the coalition will focus on a certified nursing assistant training and apprenticeship program; engaging nursing homes in quality improvement to better access residents’ goals, preferences and priorities; and scaling a pilot-tested guide to strengthen resident councils.
Since its start two years ago, the Moving Forward Coalition now represents 1,600 volunteers, including national experts, residents, family members and direct-care workers.
