The Administration’s FY24 budget request includes an expansion on the Administration on Community Living (ACL) direct care workforce priorities. In September 2022, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) ACL established a national technical assistance center to help strengthen the direct care workforce, and is using FY23 funding to build a hub through which state, private, and federal entities involved in the recruitment, training, and retention of direct care workers can access model policies, best practices, training materials, technical assistance, and learning collaboratives. ACL requests $11.5 million in FY24 to fully fund the operation of the resource hub and support the development of new approaches, including Aging Network Support Activities and Developmental Disabilities Projects of National Significance.
The Direct Care Workforce information can be found on page 12 of the FY24 Justification of Estimates for Appropriations Committees. An article with additional details is available here.
