Congress has averted a federal government shutdown for now. LeadingAge developed a HUD Shutdown Contingency Plan resource to help federally-assisted multifamily housing providers get ready for a potential lapse in government funding and operations later this fall.
HUD has updated its Fiscal Year 2023 “contingency plan,” a document produced by every federal agency detailing how it will and will not function during a government shutdown. Many actions critical for HUD multifamily housing programs would be impacted by a lapse in funding for HUD, including routine asset management processing, funding, grants, fair housing, REAC inspections, and more.
However, HUD- and USDA-assisted multifamily housing providers will continue to see their monthly subsidies continue until funding runs out.
LeadingAge will work with our affordable senior housing provider members as congressional funding debates continue. Please reach out to Juliana (jbilowich@leadingage.org) with questions or for assistance.
