A new bicameral bill introduced by Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Representative Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA) on March 23, 2026, seeks to ban private equity ownership of hospitals and nursing homes by making them ineligible for Medicare certification and funding.
