AARP Showcased Promise of AI for Better Aging at CES
Following a successful inaugural year, AARP brought its AgeTech Summit back to CES 2024 (formerly the Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas from January 9-12, 2024. The summit was intended to spotlight how technology and artificial intelligence can help older adults live longer, better, and more independently, said the AARP blog.
The AgeTech Summit was also intended to help startups and organizations recognize the benefits of developing products focused on the wants and needs of older adults. Another focus was to highlight ways AI-driven technology can help detect falls, improve brain health, prevent loneliness, manage chronic health conditions, and more. The summit schedule included more than 20 panels and demonstrations, including the following:
- Dr. Hon Pak, vice president and global head of digital health at Samsung Electronics, and Andy Miller, senior vice president of Innovation and product development at AARP’s AgeTech Collaborative.
- Actor and rapper Utkarsh Ambudkar, Freestyle+ Co-CEO and Founder Anthony Veneziale and AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins.
- Demonstrations from MIT’s AgeLab that simulate what aging feels like.
- 3D holograms from Proto Inc. that can help combat loneliness and improve telehealth.
