Measles cases are on the rise in the United States and across the world, and The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has prepared a Be Ready for Measles Toolkit offering preparedness and outbreak response tools along with communication materials. While the toolkit is aimed at public health, aging services providers may find it helpful for communicating with staff and the older adults they serve. CDC’s Project Firstline has also scheduled a webinar for May 15, featuring experts from CDC and the American Medical Association, aimed at preparing for and responding to a measles outbreak in a health care setting. More information on measles outbreaks and cases is also available on this CDC page that updates every Friday, and this statement from the Post Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association includes information relevant to long-term care and post-acute care providers.
