The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is delaying updates to the long-stay antipsychotics measure on Nursing Home Care Compare.

In a revised memo dated September 10, the agency without explanation pushed this date back to the January quarterly refresh that will take place on January 28, 2026. Presumably, the measure will continue to be calculated using only MDS data for the upcoming October quarterly refresh.

CMS had originally announced in June 2025 that the measure would be updated with the October 29 quarterly refresh to include Medicare/Medicaid claims data and Medicare Advantage encounter data to supplement Minimum Data Set (MDS) data as outlined in the existing measure.
