On May 21, House Appropriations Committee Chair Tom Cole (R-OK) released the markup schedule for the House’s fiscal year 2026 (FY26) appropriations bills.
The Transportation, HUD, and Related Agencies Subcommittee is scheduled to markup its Subcommittee bill on July 7, with a full Committee markup on July 10. While not noticed yet, LeadingAge understands the Subcommittee’s hearing with HUD Secretary Scott Turner will likely be on June 12. The Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Subcommittee is scheduled to markup its Subcommittee bill on July 21, with a full Committee markup on July 24. HHS Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. testified before the Subcommittee on May 14.
President Trump delivered a broad overview of his FY26 budget requests to Congress, dubbed his “skinny” requests because of its lack of detail, on May 2. For HUD and HHS annually appropriated programs, the skinny request seeks deep cuts for both agencies (a 43.6% cut to HUD and a 26.2% cut to HHS).
The White House’s full request could come as soon as May 23. See the Committee’s full schedule here.
