Putting an end to the brief, partial government shutdown, the House of Representatives on February 3, 2026 passed by a narrow margin a spending bill that President Trump then signed into law. With the exception of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), all departments are funded for the duration of Fiscal Year (FY) 2026, through September 30.

The vote was 217-214.

The bill, which limits DHS funding to two weeks to allow for more negotiations over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol guardrails,  also contains a number of health extenders including a two-year extension (through December 31, 2027) of telehealth flexibilities in Medicare and a five-year extension of the Acute Hospital at Home program.
