LeadingAge Weighs in for Workforce Hearing

LeadingAge submitted a Statement for Record on February 15 for today’s U.S. Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee hearing, titled, “Examining the Health Care Workforce Shortages: Where Do We Go from Here?” LeadingAge is pleased the HELP Committee is holding this important hearing to address the shortage of physicians and primary medical health care providers. LeadingAge submitted a statement to also reflect the shortage of aging services professionals at all levels in long-term care is at crisis levels.

HELP Committee professional staff have indicated Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is deeply committed to addressing health care workforce shortages, as well as expanding aging services, and this will be an important priority area for the HELP Committee. LeadingAge looks forward to working with Chairman Sanders and the Committee staff to identify policies that would serve as solutions to the aging services workforce crisis.

In response to the State of the Union address earlier this month, LeadingAge highlighted key policy areas that need immediate attention “to build a stronger, more equitable, and more sustainable aging services system that meets the needs and challenges of the post-COVID world.” Learn more.
