A report released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) summarizes peer-reviewed and grey literature published over the last 12 months on topics relating to hospice services.
Developed by CMS contractor Abt Global, the 2025 Information Gathering Report: Hospice Quality Reporting Program focuses on three key areas: hospice use covering enrollment and duration of length of stay; hospice care delivery and how care was provided to patients during their hospice stay; and caregiver supports, covering the types of support caregivers want, the support currently offered, and their overall experience of care. Key takeaways from the 30 articles reviewed include approaches to care for specific populations like those experiencing homelessness, looking at training approaches that incorporate goal-concordant care, and a look at negative associations with hospice care when it is delivered in a facility rather than the home.
The report is dated November 18, 2025.
