New HUD FHA Commissioner and Assistant Secretary for Housing
On July 28, Dana Wade was confirmed as the new Federal Housing Administration Commissioner / Assistant Secretary for Housing at HUD. Commissioner Wade served as Acting Federal Housing Commissioner and Assistant Secretary for Housing from July 2017 to June 2018.
The FHA insures more than 23,000 mortgages, including 12,000 multifamily mortgages, many with HUD subsidies, and 3,700 mortgages for residential care facilities. HUD’s Office of Housing, which Commissioner Wade will also oversee, is HUD’s largest office with jurisdiction over HUD’s project-based subsidy programs, such as Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance, Section 202, and Section 811, as well as manufactured housing and housing counseling.
Commissioner Wade has served the Trump Administration as a Program Associate Director for General Government at the Office of Management and Budget, and has worked for the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.
