On Arpil 23, HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge annouced that HUD will substantially increase housing inspections for Multifamily Housing communities and Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) during the public health emergency, including properties participating in the NSPIRE demonstration program, beginning June 1, 2021. The restarted inspections will temporarily provide properties with 28 days advance notice instead of the regular 14 day notice.

On March 22, HUD’s Office of Multifamily Housing released new tools for residents and owners. HUD has a new guide for tenants and owners, “Rights and Responsibilities for Tenants & Property Owners” and a new guide for tenants, “Managing Your Finances During COVID-19 Pandemic.” Both are available in English and Spanish.
The vice president of resident services at HumanGood is a strong advocate for supportive services in affordable senior housing.
Housing provisions in the third stimulus package include resources for HUD-assisted housing to pay for COVID-19-related costs as well as a 120-day moratorium on all evictions from federally-assisted housing, including in all HUD, USDA Rural Housing, and Low Income Housing Tax Credit programs.

On March 22, HUD Assistant Secretary for Housing and FHA Commissioner Brian Montgomery released a statement to ensure stakeholders “understand the status of our operations and our plans as health and economic events unfold and evolve.”
“The responses of our stakeholders, as always, should remain faithful to our Constitution, to the Fair Housing Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and to all Federal Laws and related regulations,” Commissioner Montgomery said.
