The use of mobile devices, telehealth, and video conferencing entered the spotlight in assisted living communities during the pandemic, according to new research. A recent column in McKnight's Senior Living shared results from an online survey by Ascom.

New research reveals that information sharing challenges are hampering care transitions from hospitals to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). LeadingAge CAST helped guide the study, which has raised concerns about patients' experiences during care transitions. To solve this challenge, said the study's authors, broader hospital-led efforts are needed, ideally supported by IT infrastructure improvements and incentives for high-quality care transitions.

 

For the first time, a majority of the nation’s 200 largest not-for-profit senior living organizations have adopted social connectedness/resident engagement technologies. Just over half are using health information exchange (HIE) technologies, and nearly one-third have adopted advanced analytic tools, the latest technology categories added this year.
