The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published a paper in JAMA Network OPEN on September 12 analyzing oral health problems among Medicare beneficiaries living in nursing homes. CMS states the study highlights “the need for targeted interventions that address oral health among vulnerable nursing home residents.” Noting that oral health also featured prominently in the May 2023 CMS Quality Conference, it seems that nursing homes could expect increased scrutiny on oral health in the future.
