The online and interactive map and tool compiled by PHI has been updated with new data. First released in 2023, the tool rates states based on two composite measures assessing supports for the direct care workforce.
The measures include scores for training, paid time off, benefits, wage pass-through policies, among others. The map offers a visual of where states fall in the composite ranking, and the FAQs outline how the measures were established. Considerations for state policy updates can be made by reviewing how other states are supporting their workers and providers through adequate payment rates, Medicaid expansion, or enhanced training minimums. Clicking through in each state offers details about why rankings were attributed and statistics on direct care worker composition.
