H Contract Enters Tablet & Power Source Seating Category

*New features provide convenient workspace & charging capabilities for senior living spaces

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – H Contract, a supplier of upholstered seating and case goods for the senior living market, is making its debut in the tablet and power source seating category. Adding new functionality to its product line, the integrated swivel tablet arms provide convenient worksurfaces for laptops, tablets, books and beverages, while USB capabilities provide charging conveniences that are incorporated into the design of the chairs.

Developed for senior living common areas including lounges, cafés, bistros and media rooms, the chairs were designed to float in a room, eliminating the need for additional side tables, a common pain point for designers looking to furnish these spaces.

Dean Jarrett, vice president and general manager of H Contract, said the tablet and power source seating options have been of particular interest to senior living facilities recently, as residents are sheltered in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The convenient functionality of the worksurface and charging capabilities provide residents with a great solution for many activities, as more and more seniors are not only utilizing technology to pass the time, but also reading more books, drawing, doing puzzles, word searches and more,” he said.

The chairs add new functionality to H Contract’s already expansive product line, which includes an assortment of contract-grade case good and accent pieces and a wide assortment of made-to-order upholstery pieces that have been specified for a variety of senior living spaces.

“Our broad case goods product line combined with our domestically-produced upholstered seating products, position us as an excellent resource for the senior living category,” said Jarrett. “While the tablet and power source seating category is not necessarily new to the industry, the addition of this important functionality to our product line provides our customers with the convenience of specifying both upholstery and case good products from one source.

“H Contract is one of the few manufacturers in our industry that is uniquely positioned to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for contract interior designers looking for on-trend case good and upholstery products that are inspired by residential styles with commercial-grade functionality for the senior living market,” he continued.

Each of the two new frame styles is available in five configurations: with right- or left-side tablet arm positions, with or without USB charging capabilities and as stand-alone lounge chairs. In addition, they were designed with the appropriate dimensions and functional details that are associated with H Contract’s industry-leading contract upholstered seating products, which include commercial grade seat cushions and removable seat decks with cleanout areas to manage spills. In addition, a moisture barrier between the fabric cover and cushioning materials helps to prevent moisture penetration on the seat cushion.

The two new styles include Clifton and Emma. The Clifton Tablet Arm Chair features a timeless wing back design, perfect for contract interior designers looking for an option to work into traditional or transitional interiors, while the Emma Tablet Arm Chair offers more of a modern design that can work in a wide range of interiors with its smartly tailored track arm and refined tapered legs.

H Contract began shipping the new chairs in mid-April.
