CMS Letters to Governors and State Medicaid Directors on Provider Revalidation Plans
In April 23, 2026 letters, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Dr. Mehmet Oz directs governors to undertake “a swift revalidation of Medicaid providers of services at high risk of waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption as part of each state’s program
integrity obligations under federal law” and, at the same time, requests that each state develop and submit a comprehensive two-year provider revalidation (PR) strategy. Below, of the Administrator’s letters.
