This list identifies the services and procedures that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is proposing to remove from the inpatient-only (IPO) list in its “Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC)” Proposed Rule. If the rule is finalized, beginning in calendar year (CY) 2027, these services and procedures could be performed on an outpatient basis, which may affect eligibility for skilled nursing facility services following those procedures.
