In August 31, 2026 comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on the Calendar Year 2027 (CY27) Home Health Proposed Rule, LeadingAge thanked the agency for considering concerns raised about home health payment adjustments in the CY 2026 rule. However, LeadingAge urged CMS to eliminate the proposed cuts and remaining temporary adjustments, warning they would harm older adults’ access to care. LeadingAge also raised significant concerns about the rule’s Medicare provider enrollment provisions, arguing that the expanded authority sought by CMS could create uncertainty and impose substantial burdens on providers. The organization urged CMS to address these proposals through separate rulemaking with a broader provider focus and a more thorough assessment of costs and benefits.
