In comments submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on July 20, 2026, LeadingAge called on the agency to exempt federal programs that fund affordable housing developments from Build America, Buy America (BABA) compliance requirements.  LeadingAge members report that new compliance thresholds for domestically sourced materials used in housing construction are infeasible, causing critically needed housing projects to stall.
