Using current best evidence, this course shows a practical approach to using exercise as a medicinal tool to reduce risk of COVID/infectious diseases (i.e., exercise as an immunomodulator) as well as falls. Further, data obtained from ICAA and NIC show financial benefits of implementing an evidence-based wellness program, along with motivational strategies and reliable outcome measures.

Objectives: participants will be able to:

1. summarize 5 vital components to a wellness “culture” that serves as a platform for using exercise as medicine

2. identify 3 key components for an exercise program to boost immunity and how to implement them with residents

3. identify 3 key components for an exercise program to reduce falls and how to implement them with residents

4. analyze an exercise program using applied biomechanical principles to enhance efficiency and safety across the care spectrum
