Assisted living settings, whether part of a life plan community or a stand-alone site, provide older adults with a home, usually an apartment or suite, with access to a range of services and care. Assisted living is largely regulated by states. All 50 states have some form of regulation or licensure and requirements on resident qualifications for admittance vary by state.
