On June 27, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti. The TPS designation for the country expires on August 3, 2025, and will be effective on September 2, 2025. In February 2025, DHS issued notice that it had shortened the existing TPS designation for Haiti by six months, with the effect that it would end August 3; that notice stated that the department would conduct a review of current conditions in Haiti and then determine whether to newly designate the country for an additional period of time. Most observers expected that DHS would not choose to redesignate, and the June 27 announcement confirms that it will not. We will post additional information as it becomes available. Developments relating to immigration are collected in our Pathways for Foreign-Born Workers serial post.
