Senators Capito (R-WV) and Baldwin (D-WI) on July 15, 2025 reintroduced the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (S.2287; PCHETA); a House companion led by Rep Buddy Carter (R-GA) and Ami Bera (D-CA) was introduced on July 16 (HR4425). LeadingAge supports this bill. This bill would:
- Grow the interdisciplinary palliative care workforce through training, faculty grants, career awards, and fellowship programs
- Increase awareness of palliative care by establishing a national campaign
- Bolster research by coordinating efforts across the National Institutes of Health
