Responding to members’ desire to understand AI tools and help organizations encourage AI literacy and move toward AI fluency, LeadingAge has invited Travis Gleinig–a CAST Commissioner and widely recognized expert–to lead our newest Learning Hub technology-focused live event.
Curiosity about and enthusiasm for artificial intelligence (AI) use throughout organizations in the U.S. and abroad is growing steadily. Consulting firm McKinsey’s latest survey of global businesses reveals an increase of respondents saying they use AI in at least one business function (88% versus 78% one year ago). Aging services’ interest mirrors that embrace, based on a data point gleaned by LeadingAge from recent responses to AI-related educational opportunities.

Over 1,000 of the members registered for our recent Annual Meeting 2025 in Boston planned to attend sessions focused on AI. Of particular interest: learning how AI is transforming our sector and how it can help providers address challenges.
“Without question, AI topics have been among our most well-attended sessions at our live events in recent years,” says Julieta Holguin, LeadingAge’s senior vice president of knowledge and learning.
At an early November educational session, “Ask ChatGPT: Can AI Address Senior Living Challenges?,” three LeadingAge members shared their thoughts on the benefits and challenges that the use of ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google NotebookLM and other AI tools present, and how those tools are being deployed in member communities. The goal of many members is reflected in the comments of panelist Travis Gleinig, VP for Innovation and CIO, United Methodist Communities: “We’re focused on getting people to understand the tool, to encourage AI literacy and move toward AI fluency. We want teams to understand it.”
Adds Scott Code, LeadingAge’s vice president of center for aging services technologies (CAST), “I’m hearing from members that their interest in tools like Copilot and ChatGPT is still strong–and the conversation is broadening. They want to go deeper and understand how generative AI can drive real impact across their organizations.”
