Majority Congressmen, chairing subcommittees within the Energy and Commerce Committee, on March 3, 2026, sent letters to governors in New York, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Maine, Nebraska, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Washington seeking information about their states’ Medicaid Program Integrity.
Signatories express concerns about fraud, waste, and abuse across the states’ Medicaid programs and are seeking answers within two weeks to the same battery of questions posed to every state. The letters preceding the questions are quite individualized. In an attempt to evidence the need for more attention, the congressmen call out home and community-based and transportation services, billed amounts, and program growth specific to each state that could indicate the need for further investigation.
Letters to all ten states are available in a single document, here.
