The New York State Veterans' Home is a skilled nursing facility owned and operated by the NYS Department of Health. We provide quality care to all eligible Veterans and their eligible dependents in need of skilled nursing care and rehabilitative services.  Each resident's short- or long-term care is customized for their individual needs and preferences.

Features Include

The interior of our  Home resembles a small village with residential units opening off a central mall.  “Main Street” houses the Therapies Departments, library, barber and beauty shop, a Gift Shop and our  Liberty Lounge, where residents, families and friends can socialize and spend quality time together.

Rehabilitation Services

The Department consists of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies. Residents are placed on Restorative Therapy programs with anticipated discharge back to the community. Home assessments are provided and necessary adaptive equipment is secured to insure safe discharge back to the home environment.

Restorative Nursing

Restorative Nursing programs are also implemented to ensure resident Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills attained in therapies are carried over onto to the Nursing Cottages. Range of Motion (ROM) Therapy programs are also implemented for those residents who require it to promote optimal ROM in both upper extremities and lower extremities. Open Gym exercise programs are also available for those residents who desire additional exercise.

SUPPORT SERVICES

Support Services programs include Social Work, Recreational Activities, Pastoral Services, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech/Language Pathology, Audiology, and other rehabilitative services.  Our staff of Registered dietitians provides comprehensive nutrition services.
