LeadingAge members helped make National Caregivers Day 2023 a success–recognizing these essential professionals and demanding that Congress act to support them.
The more than 1,300 letters delivered through the LeadingAge Action Alert sent a strong message to members of Congress: address the caregiver workforce crisis by co-sponsoring the Better Care Better Jobs Act! (ICYMI, you can still take action and share the link so others can do so).
Members blanketed social media, showcasing outstanding team members, with posts such as:
- On #NationalCaregiversDay, we thank all of the loving caregivers who are dedicated to enhancing the lives of others, like Maria, a certified nursing assistant in Gurwin Adult Day Health Care (Commack, New York).
- When David, at member organization the Reformed Presbyterian Home (Pittsburgh), was introduced on Facebook, Gwen Cole Strickland noted his professionalism in this endearing comment: David was so great taking care of my dad, Earl, with such love and compassion. Thank you so much David!! ♥♥
LeadingAge values professional caregivers as the backbone of aging services. And our research finds that the public views them as vital links to the quality care your organizations provide, so we were pleased to provide members an action toolkit for National Caregivers Day. But you don’t need a national day to acknowledge these team members. Recognition for outstanding essential work has no expiration date! Feel free to use the resources throughout the year.
The 2023 National Caregivers Day materials are part of LeadingAge’s commitment to provide tools and resources to our members and state partners so our messages are unified at the national, state, and local levels. You can always find the messaging and campaign materials on the website.
